Parish Council Meeting - Church of the Holy Trinity
June 16, 2015
In attendance were Father Jonathan, Mark Cush, Dave Weiland, Paula Cush, Mark Capuano, Rick Cercone, Christ , Cathy Morris, and Jo Ann Yost. Deacon Lyn, Father Jeff, and Amy Rowland were absent. Mark Cush opened in prayer, and the May meeting minutes were approved.
Committee Reports :
There were no specific committee reports this month, other than comments from the various Missions as to progress with their budget requests.
Father Jonathan informed us that Lindsay Williams was unable to accept the custodian job, so J & J (the company which does the rectory cleaning) will take over these duties until a new custodian can be found. Also, we are still looking for an outside maintenance person. In the meanwhile, volunteers have been able to keep up with the flower beds, mulching, etc. We are deeply grateful for their dedication.
Supplies for this year's Vacation Bible School have been coming in, and it appears all necessary items will be covered.
More information regarding a liability insurance rider for non-parishioner use of Church facilities is being gathered at this time.
The Volunteer Appreciation Dinner this Friday currently has about 40 people signed up. Mark Capuano volunteered to give a short pre-dinner welcome on behalf of the Parish Council.
Again it was noted that recent work on Mary's garden has resulted in a beautiful space for quiet contemplation, prayer, and reflection. Special thanks was extended to Paula Cush and others who made this happen! Some outside work remains & Dave Weiland and Paula are welcoming volunteers.
Dave Schaub has had to resign as Building Maintenance Director, so we are searching for a qualified replacement. Dave will be greatly missed!
We were reminded that the bloodmobile will be at the Church tomorrow.

In attendance were, Deacon Lyn, Father Jonathan, Mark Cush, Dave Weiland, Paula Cush, Mark Capuano, Rick Christ, Cathy Morris, and Joanne Yost. Rick Cercone and Amy Rowland were absent. Mark Cush opened in prayer, and the April meeting minutes were approved.

There was no new Building Committee report, as the May 16-17 Parish meeting served this purpose.
Finance Council Update
In addition to the May presentation of information, Dave Weiland gave us a brief update. Doug Dillon is the new director of this council. At their last meeting, Father Jeff informed them that the youth minister at St. Joseph's will expand his duties to include all parishes in Tuscarawas County, including Holy Trinity. We are responsible for 15% of his salary. Additionally, Cathy Hamilton will begin working with Susan Labish and others on PSR and RCIA training & certification. 15% of Cathy's salary will also come from our budget, as she is now serving all Tuscarawas County parishes.
Each of us took a look at the most recent balance sheet, which is available to any parishioner who expresses a desire to see it.
Also, our new custodian has been selected. Congratulations and welcome to Lindsay Williams!

Culture Building: Maintenance - the source of the roof leak has been determined to be around the area of the HVAC unit. This will be addressed by Dave Schaub et.al. Mark Cush has investigated the chronic odor in the women's restroom, and feels that it is a problem with a floor trap.
Fr. Jeff has given us the OK to begin sharing Committee news and needs - one at a time - in the weekly bulletin. A single insert page - 100 words or less - is what we're looking for each week.
The preventive maintenance list is a work in progress, with many jobs having been identified and new jobs being added. No outside maintenance person has been found as of yet, so the search continues for a volunteer.
The preliminary Event Planning Form was again reviewed. Its purpose will be to facilitate the scheduling of non routine parish activities, reserve facilities, avoid conflicts, and determine resources, as they come up in 2015. Father Jonathan asked about the need for developing a Risk Waiver Form to be signed - especially whenever facilities and equipment are being rented by non-parishioners. These policies and recommendations will be investigated with other parishes - especially St. Joseph's (Father Jonathan) and Sacred Heart (thanks Jo Yost!).
The annual Spring fund raisers - Monte Carlo and Golf events - have brought in over $46,000! This will certainly help us meet the 2015-16 budget. Many thanks and much gratitude was expressed for those who participated...especially the leaders and organizers of the events.
We were advised that changes to the front page of our bulletin, to reflect administrative and key ministry & council changes have been completed and were first seen last Sunday. Mark Capuano will ask our Webmasters to update the Parish website to also reflect these changes.
Sound system work is essentially complete at this time, with tweaking and adjustments ongoing. As a special gift from our K of C organization, the center runner and carrier are being donated to the parish. What a wonderful and generous act! Thanks gentlemen! Deacon Lyn suggested adding the purchase of earpiece receivers (up to 4 units) for distribution before Mass to accommodate those with special hearing needs. The cost, which would become part of next year's budget, would be up to $700 total.

Dave Weiland reminded us to look at the list of needs being expressed for this year's Vacation Bible School by Susan Labish and her crew. Please help and Volunteer!
We were again reminded that our 2015-16 budgets are needed in the office by the first week of June. These can be sent to Doug Dillon or Kristi Schaub.
Father Jonathan introduced several new business items, including the need for Mass intentions, our need to advertize the availability of a new Youth Minister to the Parish, and the ongoing need for additional ministry assignment volunteers - especially greeters and ushers. Father also updated us on preliminary planning by our four clerics for a "Ministry Appreciation Dinner" on Friday, June 19th. On that evening, approximately 130 volunteers will be recognized our parish leaders.
There was also some discussion regarding the formation of a parish women's group as a potential new ministry. Jo and Paula primarily participated in this discussion. This ministry, however, had not flourished in the past at Holy Trinity, for reasons unknown.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00PM.
