A Family - Centered Catholic Church Serving Northern Tuscarawas County

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR POSITION

So many of us feel called to serve our church and our community, but just aren’t sure where to start, who to call, and what to do.  We are looking for a person who has the time, desire, and calling, to help strengthen our parish by facilitating this.  It is going to be a labor intensive position, especially at the conception, but the impact that you can expect to have on the community and our church family will be worth the effort.

The goal of this position is to have one individual who will be point person for all volunteer opportunities both within our parish (I.e. landscaping, snow removal, assisting the sick, etc.) and in our surrounding community (I.e. homeless shelters, salvation army, nursing homes.)  When someone in the church has the time or means to volunteer, you will point them in the direction of where they would be best able to help.  As an example, someone may have unused baby formula but aren’t sure where they should take it.  You would be able to share with them their options.  Perhaps someone is able to rake leaves so you would be able to coordinate who may be in need of the help in the fall.  Maybe someone is homebound and really lonely, you would be able to identify who might be able to stop in for routine visits.  The opportunities are endless really.

In addition to the regular occurring opportunities there will be impromptu needs from our church and community.  As an example, if a member of our church family falls ill and there is a need for assistance, your role would be to contact the family in order to identify what the family might need. If they need meals you could arrange that with people who have volunteered to help with meals.  If they need child care, you would call upon the folks who could help in that regard.  If there is a need for transportation, you would contact people who have identified themselves as volunteers for that service when needed, and so on.

Again, this position is a tough one but one that is so important to our church. However, please don’t feel as though you need do everything on your own. Ask for help from Pastoral Council and we will do our best to see you receive it. The opportunity for personal growth, and spiritual growth, is limitless. Of course, all decisions will be finalized through our Parish Administrator, Fr. Jeff.
